Our Course

Royal Oak is one of the best known and loved golf and country clubs situated on the East Rand in Gauteng, South Africa, offering an exceptional golfing and social experience. Steeped in a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1909 as the Brakpan Mines Golf Club, it stands as a proud testament to the enduring legacy of the region's golden era.

For over a century, this historic gem has been a cornerstone of the Gauteng golf scene. The heart of the Royal Oak experience is its magnificent golf course. A classic parkland layout, its defining feature is the gallery of majestic, mature trees that stand as silent guardians over each hole. These natural corridors demand not just power, but intelligent course management and surgical precision from the tee. Stray shots are often punished, placing a premium on accuracy over sheer distance.

The challenge continues onto the well-manicured, often tricky greens, which are strategically protected by bunkers that demand a deft touch with your short game. Whether you're a scratch golfer testing your skills or a weekend enthusiast enjoying the scenery, the course provides a memorable, fair, and consistently challenging round.

After your game, the journey continues as you unwind in the timeless charm of the clubhouse. With its old-world elegance and warm, convivial atmosphere, it serves as the vibrant hub of the club's social life. It's a place where stories of near-misses and triumphant putts are exchanged over a cold drink at the welcoming '19th hole' bar, and where members and guests enjoy excellent dining.
